november-2008-253-copy-smallIndi only wanted to hang out with her girlfriends this morning.  Someone loves to be the center of attention and she was allowed to lounge on a bed, something that is forbidden in her own home! I walked into the situation above and had to take a picture. Here she is in the middle of a snuggling and kissing session.

“I can’t find my pink sports bra. Have you seen it?”

“Yeah, I needed some support the other day and used it.” Said with a sarcastic tone.

“Yeah right! My bra would be too big for you.” Checks the size of the man’s chest, “yeah, too big, your boobies are just the right size for a training bra!”

What does this video make you think?

Right now, just at the end of this video I think about:

  • The amzing growth of technology in the past few decades and where it is headed in the future
  • As someone who is involved and interested in Education the state of our education here in the US really worries me in a sense that we will not be able to keep up with the intelligence and opportunities that children from other nations will bring to the table. The continuous budget cuts will further hurt the educational core of this country.

What do YOU think?

Gasta Style

As Indi has grown, her little personality has also blossomed. When we first adopted her she never made eye contact unless there was food involved. Nowadays, that has changed, a lot.  As of late little miss Indi has been vocal about what she wants and the dog may not talk but she sure as hell knows how to communicate. Lately, when she wants to go out, besides sitting in front of the door, she has started pawing the door. OK! Initially, that was her request for going out. In the past week if she is outside and she wants to come inside she will once again paw the door, from the other side. OK! I am all down with this alternative communication!

Our loved spoiled dog currently has three beds: one in the living room, one in her crate, and the other at the foot of the bed next to me. This is where she has been sleeping at night for the past couple of months once the higher powers in charge blessed us with permission for the dog to enter the forbidden room.  Let me tell ya it is great! I love the fact that she is right there next to me. Of course the amusing thing is that now there is a symphony of snoring every night, in addition to the occasional sleep talker, now I also hear the occasional doggy dream blabber.

So back to the beds. I washed the covers of all of her three beds this afternoon. Once night time came around Indi started wandering around the house taking turn staring at both of us.

I was sitting in the living room minding my own business and working on the spiffy banner above. She comes and she simply stands and stares at me.

“What’s up Indi bug?” Stare.

“whatcha staring at?” Stare.

“Do you want to go out?” Tilts head slightly do the left.

“Do you want to go peepee and poopies?” Tilts head slightly to the left.

“Are you the best doggy in the world?” Stare.

“Do you want to go out?” Tilts head slightly to the left. Ohhh is there a pattern here?

“Hi good doggy!” Stare.

“Do you want to go out?” Tilts head slightly to the left. Oooh how I love to mess with this dog!

Front door magically opens and she goes out. Two minutes later she paws the door. The door magically opens again.  She plants herself in the same spot and stares at me again. Then she lets out one of her grumpy sounds. I get up and she starts walking towards the bedroom; she pokes her head in and then she looks back at me, stares.

“Ohh you want your bed! You are wondering what the hell happened to my bed? I get it!”

I put on the cover to her living room bed, she can’t wait to get on it and she steps on it while I am putting the cover on. I walk over to the other side of the living room and place it in its usual location. I come back and sit on the couch. She walks around it, then walks back and plants herself in the same spot as before and she stares at me. AHhhhhh

“Indi what is wrong? What do you need?”

I get up go over to the bed lean down and pat on it while saying: “Indi come.”

She comes over does her wild animals instict of circling before laying down and just drops down. A few minutes later she starts snoring.

Protesters for No on Prop 8 have been very vocal since the day after the elections.  There was an article in the LA Times yesterday about the protesters targeting El Coyote Mexican Restaurant. You can click here to read about it.

I personally think this is a classic example of “don’t bite the hand that feeds you.”  I used to live down the street from El Coyote before I moved to the South Bay. The aformationed restaurant is located in West Hollywood.  I went there a couple of times, and let me tell you, their food is plain bad Americanized Mexican food. Let me repeat myself, BAD FOOD which by the way costs a lot of money. So recapping: you go eat bad Mexican food and pay lots of money for it. Did we get that out of the way?

Yet the place is very popular and is always packed. Why is that? I have no idea but celebrities are known to hang out there as well; It is just the place to go. One of the two times I went there one of the actors from Buffy was there with his twin brother. They were both flirting with a girl that was sitting with them and all three were drunk. Which brings me to the next point. The drinks are supposed to be good. Frankly, I didn’t like either of them and the place was too pretentious for yours truly.

In case you were wondering, there are many from the gay and lesbian community and from West Hollywood who frequent this establishment.  I am not saying that harrassing the costumers is OK by the protesters, but what I like to know is: why bite the hand that feeds you?  If you are going to donate money to a controvertial issue such as this, then why not be smart about it and do it anonimously instead of insult a good portion of your costumers? Not to mention taking business away from your parents’ restaurant and financially hurt the rest of your co-workers? All of that for a lousy $100.

It is fire season folks and the fires have been burning with a vengence for the past 24 hours. They started in Montecito and as of right now there are fires in Orange County as well.  The closest fire to us has been reported in Rancho Palos Verdes and as of 12:40pm it is contained and out according to NPR.

It is hot and smoky in San Pedro and the air quality is absolutely horrible. Charlie is here since Mr. Ocifer is out of town with Ms. Witty and both dogs are inside spread out on the hardwood floor. Charlie is chilling under the table right next to my feet and Indi is doing the same a few feet away.

Update 4:30pm:

We took a drive to asses the situation along the coast this afternoon. People were out and about, many taking pictures of the beautiful sun as it was getting ready to set. Others were playing golf on the DT golf course. Below are some pics taken on our drive.

I was listening to NPR this evening and they were talking about prop 8. It was an interesting argument that I had not heard of before. I knew that mostly Hispanics and African-Americans voted yes on prop 8, but I had not heard about it being broken down this way.

If indeed the accusations are true, then I would really like to know where all the money donated to NO on Prop 8 went. I especially find it sad that she received information in the mail to vote yes on the prop 8 frequently, whereas she did not once receive anything encouraging people in her neighborhood to vote no. To think about it, to the best of our knowledge, we did not receive info about neither here in San Peepee.

The interview was done by Talk of the Nation and you can listen and read about it here.

Op-Ed: Why Black Voters Didn’t Fight Prop. 8

Talk of the Nation, November 10, 2008 · Writer Jasmyne Cannick argues that black voters did not join the fight against California’s same-sex marriage ban because the white community failed to effectively communicate with the black community.

“Open, open now….how about now? Maybe if I strear at it long enough it will open…OPEN!!! Oh wait maybe if I paw it, it will open….”

This is what miss Indi does, she plants herself in front of the door waiting for it to magically open.  Sometimes she will use her paw while she lets out a little grunt too. It is pretty funny.
